Looking for something to do the day after Thanksgiving? How about a way to work off some of those extra calories AND have fun at the same time?
Then check out the South Bay Giant Round Robin Tournament on Friday, November 26, 2010. Hosted by RoboFit Table Tennis Center in Torrance (an LATTF member club), the giant round robin format means a lot of quality matches against players of the same level.
If you’ve never played a giant RR tourney before, the way it works is first you play an initial RR group of about four players, then depending on where you finish in that group you advance to a second giant RR group (division A, B, C, etc.). Everyone moves on so everyone gets a lot of playing opportunities. You don’t need to be a USATT member, anyone age 8 or older is eligible.
So what are you waiting for? Sign up today! Here’s all the info:

Check out the San Diego/Power Pong Open table tennis tournament coming up on November 6-7, 2010.
Organized by Power Pong (an LATTF participating club) and sponsored by Butterfly (an LATTF league sponsor), this is a 4-star tournament sanctioned by USA Table Tennis. So it should attract some of the top players in the area (which means great spectator opportunities), not to mention a whole bunch of players across a wide range of levels (which means lots of quality matches).
The tourney is being held at the Balboa Park Activity Center in San Diego, which is a great facility used exclusively for table tennis, badminton and volleyball (it’s the home of the San Diego Table Tennis Association). Wood floors, excellent lighting, plenty of space, but better hurry up because the October 27 entry deadline is approaching quickly. Here’s all the info you need:

The Fall 2010 Season of the LATTF team league kicks-off Saturday, September 18th.
It’s shaping up to be a great season with more teams and more divisions than in the spring, a few new clubs, and a bunch of new and returning players. While I’m sure everyone’s excited to get out there and play some table tennis, a few tips to help the league run smoothly:
1. Know the rules (no, there won’t be a quiz, but it’s still important)
2. Check the schedule for your division. Show up 30 min. before the scheduled match time to warm-up (you want to play your best, right?)
3. Wear your team uniform (that way you’ll look all snazzy in your team photo, plus it’s required, see #1).
4. Home team: Print out a team contest scoresheet and bring it to the match. Instructions for how to play the team contest are at the bottom (now how to win on the other hand, is up to you).
5. Home team captain: submit the results of the team contest within 24 hours (yes, even if your team loses). Be sure to take some photos at the match so you’ll have something to submit.
6. Everyone: Play hard and have FUN!!! (this one is mandatory).
